Let's bring Ana back home to her daughters!
Homies Unidos Inc, founded in El Salvador in 1996 and extended to Los Angeles California in 1998, for over two decades they have been working on issues of violence prevention, intervention and reentry for young immigrant youth and incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people.
The recent attacks on our immigrant community has brought terror, separation of families, cilvil rights violations and continued hatred by extremist xenophobic. We have been paper sprayed, shot with rubber bullets and called insurrectionist. But we will overcome this onslaught. Tragically, many of our relatives will be impacted.
Ana migrated with her family from El Salvador. They escaped imminent danger and violence in their country and came here to the United States. Gabby and LuLu’s older brother, Edwin Rafael, was recently murdered in El Salvador. Still grappling with grief and loss, their mother Ana is now in federal detention facing deportation.
ICE agents raider her workplace and took her. We recently found out she will be housed in their immigration detention facility in Adelanto.
Ana's daughters, Gabby and LuLu, have been active leaders at Homies Unidos for the past few years. They were instrumental in the successful turnout and execution of our 9th Annual Central American Youth Leadership Conference this past month. Gabby and Luana are proven devoted leaders, mentors, and integral to their community’s flourishment.
They have achieve what their mother dreamed of, to graduate from High School and go to a university.
Lulu was accepted to California State University, Northridge and Gabby will go to East Los Angeles College to break the cycle of poverty. They wanted to be able to take care of their families as their parent have taken care of them.
They came to Homies Unidos through their internship from New Village Girls Academy, which Homies Unidos has had a long collaboration. They brought joy and laughter, their mother was always attentive and protector. Fredid Toledo, our Youth Development Coordinator has been a mentor to them.
We are devastated by her arrest, we tend to be there for Ana as we have been for Lulu and Gabby.
With your support, we will keep the family safe from further attacks of their relatives. Lulu and Gabby and siblings need your support.
